A gorgeous and prettily coloured hand carved shell Cameo capturing the image of a Bacchante, one of the followers of Bacchus the God of wine and festivities (see the vines in her hair?). Likely the Cameo was carved in Italy and it has been beautifully done using the three layers of the shell to add gentle colours. Mounted as a ring circa 1920's in chunky 9ct yellow Gold indicating a British origin, the whole has a striking impact and would make a really special statement ring for the lover of history and culture.
The Cameo measures 2cm by 1.5cm, and the ring is sized at an 'L and a half' or '5.75' but we may be able to alter a wee bit to suit.
